Anastasia, her mother Valentyna, and her sister Valeriya have been a tight-knit trio since leaving Ukraine two decades ago. Their journey to the United States brought them resilience, creativity, and a deep commitment to helping others.

Valentyna built a life of service, and Anastasia went on to serve in the U.S. Army—eventually retiring after 20 years and multiple overseas assignments. Together, their shared values shaped the foundation of what would eventually become This Crafty Place.

In early 2022, when Ukraine faced renewed crisis, both Anastasia and Valentyna stepped in to support their community. Valentyna helped coordinate donated medical supplies for hospitals, and Anastasia assisted with family evacuations and relief efforts. Their experiences reminded them why giving back matters—and why creativity can also heal.

From that spirit, This Crafty Place was born.
Valentyna creates handmade soaps inspired by wellness and tradition. Anastasia brings her long-time love for crafting into upcycled wearable art and handmade décor. What began as a small passion project has grown into a platform dedicated to uplifting local artisans and supporting Ukrainian families rebuilding their lives both abroad and here in the U.S.
